Centre Grey Health Services Foundation’s Concert Event
THE CAVERNERS
May 7th, 2011
Take a sell out crowd, a good cause, a great band, lots of dancing, and a few prizes and surprises. Put these ingredients together in the Markdale Golf and Curling Club, stir a few times, and voila - you have a wonderful evening of Beatles nostalgia, memorabilia, and all round enjoyment. That’s exactly what 400 people experienced on Saturday, May 7 when The Caverners showed us why they are known as “Canada’s Premier Beatles Tribute Band”. The concert was the second in an annual series held as fundraisers by Centre Grey Health Services.
Generously sponsored by Scotiabank and The Miller Group, the concert raised over $15,000 for Centre Grey Health Services Foundation! The money will gratefully be used to purchase medical equipment for Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale.
Wonderful support from other community partners added to the fun and (literally) the flavour: Sparlings, who donated a barbecue to be raffled; The Bakery in Flesherton, which provided desserts and coffee; and local restaurants (Donabies, The Flying Chestnut, The Knight’s Inn, Munshaw’s Bistro, and Steven’s BBQ Restaurant) who provided sponsorship and special pre-concert menus.
This will be an annual concert series that will take place every year on the Saturday nights of Mother’s Day weekend. Watch closely to see who next year’s star attraction will be & mark the date on your calendar – Saturday, May 5th, 2012.
