October 17th, 2009

The Eighth Annual CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon was held October 17th, 2009 and over $596,000 was raised collectively by all 15 participating hospital Foundations. CKNX hosted the Radiothon at their Wingham station, which played live for eight hours on three of their radio stations – FM 101.7 The One, FM 94.5 The Bull and AM 920 on October 17th.

Donations were taken all day by telephone & live at the station. Volunteers from each of the 15 hospital Foundation’s were at the CKNX radio station in Wingham to help out.

Centre Grey Health Services Foundation raised over $6,700 through the elementary school Great, Humongous, Hospital Penny & Change Drive, through 50/50 ticket sales and through donations phoned in and delivered in person during the 2009 Radiothon Day. The money raised by CGHSF will go towards the purchase of three arthroscopy kits for Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale.

The Fall Fair Ambassadors joined us at the Foundation office on
Saturday, October 17th to draw the winners on behalf of
Centre Grey Health Services Foundation.

Centre Grey Health Services Foundation has held the Great, Humongous, Hospital Penny & Change Drive in its area’s elementary school’s for three years now as a part of the CKNX Health Care Heroes Radiothon. Together this year, all five participating schools raised almost $2,000! Altogether, during the past three years, over $5,572 dollars has been raised thru the Hospital Penny & Change Drive, which has gone towards hospital equipment for the Markdale Hospital. The money raised this year will go towards the purchase of three arthroscopy kits.

Every class that participated in the drive was entered into a draw to win a classroom Ice Cream Party. This year, the school that raised the most money overall through Centre Grey Health Services Foundation’s Great, Humongous, Hospital Penny & Change Drive was Dundalk Highpoint School – and because they raised the most money overall, two Ice Cream Parties were awarded to this school.

The Fall Fair Ambassadors joined us at the Foundation office on Saturday, October 17th to draw the winners on behalf of Centre Grey Health Services Foundation. Two of the Fall Fair Ambassadors, Amanda and Ryleigh, were live on the radio on FM 101.7 The One at 1pm on October 17th to announce all of the winners from the draw. They did a wonderful job representing our areas! Alison & Nikki Kinney visited the CKNX station in Wingham and announced all of the winners again during the afternoon.
