The Centre Grey Hospital Campaign got a $25,000 boost February 2nd, as over 140 members and guests of the Beaver Valley Ski Club hit the slopes on a beautiful winter’s day for the first “Carve, Slide and Ride — Beaver Valley Ski Day.” Organized by Club members, the midweek fundraiser drew participants from as far away as Kitchener-Waterloo and Toronto, as well as a solid contingent of local skiers.
Hospital Foundation volunteers were on hand and busy throughout the day, and organizers were also pleased to receive solid corporate support. That feeling was mutual. “Raising money for the Centre Grey Hospital is a great cause and we are glad we could be a part of it” said Paul Lucas, President and CEO of GlaxoSmithKline (Canada), the major sponsor for the day.
In making the cheque presentation at the event wrap-up to Campaign Chair Dr. Hamilton Hall, Michael Willson, a club director and co-founder of the event (along with Greg Cochrane), summed it up enthusiastically. “Great people, great cause and exceptional skiing: this is the true recipe for a successful charity drive,” he said. “This hospital means so much to the Centre Grey community and we’re glad we could help out.”
Many thanks to organizers and all the participants in this terrific event!
