The holiday season is approaching and Centre Grey Health Services Foundation (CGHSF) has officially embarked upon their annual Light for Life Christmas campaign to raise money for equipment for Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale.
Letters addressed to all previous CGHSF donors were mailed out during the first week of November, which will be followed by a larger mailing to all area residents that receive flyer mail next week.
All those who donate to Light for Life have the option of making their donation in honour or memory of someone or in their own name and the donor names are then posted, upon request, in the lobby of Centre Grey Hospital on a colourful & cheery Christmas display. The Light for Life tree on the front lawn of the hospital will be lit up in time for the November Markdale Midnight Madness festivities.
This year, $210,000 is needed for medical equipment and fire safety upgrades. The medical equipment can be moved to the new hospital eventually and will include arthroscopy kits, operating room battery packs, intraosseus drivers & needles and an oxygen saturation monitor.
Donna Hutton, Chair of CGHSF notes that, “At this time of year, it is especially important that we think about how necessary our local hospital is to each of us, our families and to the community as a whole.”
