Centre Grey Health Services Foundation (CGHSF) has officially launched its annual Light for Life Christmas campaign to raise money for equipment for Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale.
This year, the campaign is focusing on raising funds (in conjunction with the Hospital Auxiliary) for bed replacement. The new Carroll Hi–Low Beds come with an excellent frame, a good standard mattress and are equipped with a scale so that the hospital patient can be weighed while they remain comfortably situated in the bed. The beds are also outfitted with an alarm so that if the patient leaves the bed, the nursing staff will be notified immediately. The new beds are easy to sanitize and move around and can go up and down to as low as 6″ from the floor. This will make it easier for patients to maneuver in and out of their beds and will allow hospital staff easier access to patients when delivering care.
All those who donate to Light for Life have the option of making their donation in honour or in memory of someone, or having their own name posted. The names are displayed on a cheerful Christmas display that is located in the lobby of Centre Grey Hospital outside the waiting room of the Emergency department.
An addition to the Light for Life annual tradition is the new Christmas tree that has been decorated and set up outside the hospital entrance. The tree was kindly donated by Klondike Christmas Trees and decorated by CGHSF Board members to celebrate the Light for Life Christmas campaign.

A special thank you to the amazing volunteers from the Centre Grey Hospital Auxiliary and to the Foundation friends who graciously lent a hand putting together almost 10,000 letters at the annual “stuffing” day that was held on October 28th.
