After becoming a familiar feature at local events, festivals and parades
over the past six months, the Model A Ford raffled off for the benefit of
Centre Grey Hospital won’t be making a long journey to its new owner. Don
Boutet, a Dundalk-area resident, was the lucky winner of the draw for the
car, held Saturday November 26th.
Ticket seller extraordinaire Harry Trafford drew the winning ticket at 3:00
p.m. in a ceremony held outside the hospital Boardroom. Also present at the
ceremony were the other dedicated members of the ticket-selling team, as
well as Al Ritchie, the original donor of the car.
Draw organizer Willard Foster acknowledged the hard work and generous
support of his team, and the tremendous response from area residents and
antique car fanciers to the draw project. Their goodwill and hard work
resulted in the sale of 10,000 tickets for the draw, earning just over
$35,000 in support of the hospital.
