Q: What is the history of Centre Grey Hospital in Markdale?
Founded in the late 1920’s, the Centre Grey Hospital was a community-based Hospital located in Markdale, Ontario. On September 24, 2023, the New Brightshores Health System Markdale Hospital was opened to the public. This new state of the art facility provides care to over 20,000 people living in Grey Highlands, Southgate, West Grey, Chatsworth and the villages of Dundalk, Flesherton, Melancthon and Markdale. The Brightshores Markdale Hospital is part of Brightshores Health System.
Q: What health services does the Hospital provide?
Brightshores Health System Markdale provides a full range of medical services including 24-hour emergency care, acute hospital care, palliative care, diagnostic imaging, physiotherapy, endoscopy services, ambulatory care, including weekly Skin Cancer Clinic, and laboratory services for the community. Visiting specialists provide orthopedic, and general surgical consults. Clinical nutrition, and diabetes care are examples of the diverse services available.
Q: How is the Hospital funded?
Operational funding for the Hospital is funded by the Ontario Ministry of Health and Long Term Care through the Grey Bruce Health Services. Equipment and technological upgrades are funded by the generosity of the community through the Centre Grey Health Services Foundation.
